Question For My Orthodox Readers

Is the schism between Moscow and Constantinople still going on? According to this wiki it still it, but that of course isn’t always the best source of information. No special reason, I am just genuinely curious.

I’m not Orthodox, but it looks as if it is another ripple effect dating back to 29May1453. 12Oct1492 would not have happened without that either. At least, not in the same way.
I think that Russia considers itself to be the inheritor of the Eastern Roman Empire. Ivan III called Moscow the New Rome. The double headed eagle is not Russian, but Byzantine, representing the union of Church and state.
    Hope this helps.

I am surprised that you haven’t gotten a response, other than mine. Is it that people are not responding, or are they not reading?
I think that Serbia also considers itself to be an inheritor of the Eastern Roman Empire. Where this comes from is beyond my guess.

Amusing thing about this question? You will get different answers based upon what RO guy you ask. Each bishop calls their own shots. So another way to ask this: is EO unified to begin with?

Another way to answer: the whole EO church is in schism with each other if you just ask enough questions. So nobody does; ask about birth control, for example. The RC church does the same thing in reverse: fix dogma in writing, but then lie in praxis.

Your answer is both amusing and sad at the same time. There are serious problems all around the place with the Apostolic churches. More prayer needed.

I stumbled across this on Youtube. While it doesn’t address your question, it does cover the nature of schism in a thumbnail sketch of a millennium and a half of history.
