Quote of the Day- October 7th, 2013

The Quote of the Day comes courtesy of Dalrock:

His wife’s brave decision not to honor her marriage vow inspired Rogers to write a list of advice to husbands which has spread like wildfire.

This quote comes near the end of his latest post, Advice from an expert (on failing as a husband).

[Not sure if this is something I am going to keep up on, but it was too classic a Dalrock line not to acknowledge]

  1. “Quote of the day” doesn’t have to be every day.

And you can quote me on that.

  2. Ugh.

People taking advice from the nearly divorced or already divorced on marriage is like women taking advice from 40 year old single cat lady feminists….

WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THEM THAT YOU WANT!?

You should always answer that question before you take advice – from anyone. Failure to do so will make you unable to parse whether or not the advice is good for your goals, your Mission, or whether the advice is merely rationalization on the part of the advice giver in order to reinforce their own poor choices as good ones.

The more important the advice, the more you should practice this.

  3. This is kind of along the lines of “those who can’t do, teach” – which I believe was uttered by one Lucy Van Pelt (fussbudget extraordinaire), isn’t it?
